King grinned.
"Work...I don't get much work, and material value isn't realy a matter as you've already seen....but I'm in...if nothing less then for the shear experience..."He says shrugging.
"Who is this 'mother' this ones yelling about?"King asks nodding towards the newcomer.

"I hoped you would say that." She simpered, satisfied with this decision.
"Dude you don’t know about the mother? She’s like… like… the MAN only a woman." Xanthus explained, without actually explaining anything.
"You can ignore him most of the time, he’s had a few too many hits if you know what I mean." Val said rolling her eyes. They continued walking; King and her were a few paces ahead of the others.
"Aw, that’s not fair boss!" Xanthus complained behind them.
"Quit your whinin’ Xan." He said gruffly. He yanked on his arm, pulling him down to face-level so they could talk. She could easily hear their voices, along with the rustle of fabric and what must have been the money.
"She’s a… inventor. Technology, weapons and the like." She said, once again in a lower voice looking serious once again. "Does good business… with anyone who can afford it. She’s really an impressive human. Clinically insane perhaps, but still impressive. She has quite a following too."

A wide overly amused grins spreads over Kings face, the grin in itself representing joy, malice, and pure insanity.
"This mother person sounds like just the person I need to be talking to.."He says pulling the bag off his shoulder and holding it in front of him. The air turned deathly clod and ari rushed around the bag eventualy collapsing the bag and money into a solid black, marble sized sphere which he places in his pocket.
"Would you mind if I asked why you're going to see her?"King inquires with a grin.

"Why else? To do business." She said simply. She had watched his display, curiosity stirred behind her flat stare.
She faced ahead of them again, a small but inscrutable smile on her face. "She's getting old, you know. I was thinking... she'll be needing help to run a place like that. Poor thing will be needing someone to take care of the money. Humans do tend to become senile after a certain point..."
"Yo, we make a turn here." Xanthus said. As he spoke she realized the two had been silent, keen on listening in.
"Hmm." She stopped looking down the narrower path. It looked perfectly normal, like another dark ally housing a homeless bum. The only difference was the strange arch that bridged between the buildings above it. Together they walked silently, the path illuminated by the occasional red light from a dying piece of old machinery. The farther the group ventured the steeper the ground became leading somewhere even deeper.
"You sure this is right?" Craig asked feeling his way with the grimy wall.
"Yeah, I got it covered. That chick told me it was this way."
"I bet she woulda said anythin' to get you to leave her alone."
"Man whatever, she was totally into me-"
"Look." Val interrupted with a sigh.
They both squinted in the dark. Up ahead was a lone statue, bronze, up against the wall at the end of the path. It seemed to be a dead end.

"I feel for them sometimes, humans, sucha short life-time, I mean we where created to live for a encredibly short period of time and yet we live longer than they do...their mind, and stregth goes with their age..."King says staring at the statue.
"One flaw in your plan.......she's old...that means she's lived long enough to know the game, and know it well. She may need help running the place but if her followings as you stated earlier she my already have a trusted member in that possition, the realy keys not striving for that possition its winning over the old woman and if she has a subordinate in there, then dealing with them.....I might be able to help with that, on both account."He says stepping even closer to the statue.

"Not exactly what I meant. I suppose we could go with the more humane way of doing things… or not. Depends on her mood."
"I… It’s movin’." Craig stuttered, directing their attention up to the bronze figure. The eyes had opened casting a faint green glow upon their group. The light became more defined, a grid form that scanned over their bodies and the area around them.
"Passkey." It ordered, in a distinctly feminine voice.
They all looked at each other confused. "Ummm…"
"Invalid code."
In a matter of second several things happened. The arms lifted and its jaw dropped, shifting to reveal several barrels. There was a clicking noise, the loud utterance of the word ‘SH*T’ and then a barrage of bullets was fired. The two men lunged to the side, holding each other as they cowered behind a piece of sheet metal as it was ripped with holes. Val ducked, pulling King with her. A strange sensation washed over him, as she pulled him out of the way. They both could see the bullets as they passed through their bodies but the feeling was barely there, no pain or shock, nor even resistance as it fired straight through.
The bullets stopped as new footsteps joined their party. "Sorry about that, you should have knocked." The woman said. She was dressed in strangely rich colors, not often seen. Deep red and gold attire of some bizarre circus army… Adorned with odd looking contraptions that could be weapons, or communication devices or extremely elaborate watches…
Val stood dusting off her pants. "I’ll remember that next time."
Craig and Xanthus poked their heads out from behind the barely surviving metal. "Is it safe?"
Val nodded and the woman rolled her eyes with obvious irritation. "Men." She grumbled.
"We were expecting you earlier. It’s your own fault for being late." She chided glaring at them. Val looked around the opening in the wall where she must have come out but saw nothing. "Your lucky we set the outdoor defenses low, Mother thought you might still come…"
"My apologies, we got sidetracked." She explained.
"With this entourage I'm not surprised." She was talking as she walked now, she didn’t hesitate as she moved straight through the brick. "Hurry!" She called back to them as the hologram was shut down. Beside them the robot disguised as a statue returned to its original form. They could see the cavernous hole in the wall, high arched with a heavy looking door. They all followed her in, letting her lead the way through the maze of halls. Then stopped suddenly and turned off into a small room, empty except for the single table off to the side.
"Remove all your weapons." She commanded, standing in the doorway.

King sighs dusting himself off, with no real perpose.
"Unfortunatly mine don't come off...."He says pointing to his tattoo"But I promise to be a good boy..."
He arches his back sending resounding cracks as his bones pop.

She scoffed. "No such thing."
First she removed her jacket, folding it neatly in a square. Val sighed untying her holsters from her waist and setting the bat down on the table. "That's the best I can do as far as disarming myself."
Both men were emptying their pockets, coming up with a pile of random sharp objects they had been hiding somewhere on their person. After about 20 minutes the guard looked about ready to shot them all.
"DONE!" Xan shouted, even though the room was relatively small... "Oh, wait-"
"Forget it! Lets just go!" She shouted leading them off through another door that had somehow remained hidden until she touched the wall, revealing it to be another hologram. They entered a wide room, the short ceiling curved just high enough for them to walk comfortably. They passed through a web of red sensors, after that each step they took illuminated the floor. The wide space but short ceiling had a strange effect. Almost as if they were shrinking too. It seemed it would never end and when it did they were once again forced to a stop. She knocked, the sound echoing through the hall.
"Oh, do come IN!" The words echoed around them, wildly exuberant. The whole wall slid away to a small antechamber and a huge black door. This too slid open and suddenly their little party was jerked forward, the floor bellow them moving them inside.
They were thrust into a world of color. Like they had jumped into a art piece full of people in togas and cherubs and wine colored draperies. The woman herself was surrounded in a canopy of silks. From what they could see she was plump, with a wrinkled face and crooked smile. Happily superior on her throne of pillows. Around her, although almost hidden were her guards. All women, although some so brawny they might have been mistaken for men. They were similarly dressed in royal blues, greens, purples, reds and golds.
"WELCOME! Do you love it? The theme for this week is Roman Classical Art." She said lifting up a jeweled hand to greet them. "Tell me, what do you think?"

"I was never a big fan of roman art, that was back in the age when most art was butchered to suit the churches..."King says with a shrug.
"But the lavish abundance of colors do seem to bring out the more elequinte qualities in most of your following....as well as yourself..."He says shoving his hands into his pockets. His tattoos move and shift acrost his skin, though this was barely noticed.

"Yes, its lovely..." Val said smiling back at her.
"Ah, thank you!" She beamed from her perch. "I feel that introducing myself would be redundant BUT I will, if just for the sake of pleasantries. I am Mother and this is my humble abode. I don't need to know your names. Most of my clients prefer their privacy." She nodded down at them, her heavy jowls shaking with her. "Now, what can I do for you young ones today."
"We hear your he one to go to if you want real weapons." She replied simply. "Your the best there is."
"Oh, dear you do flatter me." She said, although her abashment was probably false. "Now the question is... can you afford it?"
"Not a problem."
"Really?" She arched an eyebrow, further wrinkling her forehead. "Wonderful, come let me show you my collection." And with ebullience that a woman her age does not often possess she climbed down from her throne. The guard came to attention, close behind her every step. Their group was rushed into another room, just like that. There were shelves full of strange looking contraptions, some on shelves and others behind enforced glass cases.
"Do, have a look around." She encouraged waving around her stores. "Anything, just ask and I can find it. Or make it." She chortled.

King looks around not to suprized by any of it.
"Um...Mother....I have a some what different request...I need you to make a power converter...cabaple of converting the energy from vaccum space to a managble form."King asks casualy.(Here's the thing, to make vaccum space requires a impossible amount of energy but once made it's self sutaining but needs to be cafuly contained less it devour everything around it in a violent explosion. Drawing power from its infinate well is a task of pure genius and something many have given up even dreaming about.)

There was silence for a moment. "Let me see what I can do..." She smiled, although it was apparent her visage had fallen ever so slightly. Val more readily noticed the gray's of her hair, the age etched in wrinkles upon her face. There were shadows beneath her eyes. "Follow me."
They let her set the pace. Slow. Almost hesitant as she led them through the maze of corridors. "It was a long time ago that I began..."
"I have a question..." Val said easily keeping in step.
"Then by all means, ask away." She said.
"Is that... how you lost your arm?" She asked, quietly.
Mother laughed. "Sharp woman. It's not often someone notices." She held up her left arm, letting the sleeve of the robe fall back. It looked perfectly real, except it didn't quite fit her body anymore. It was too smooth and strong. A fake. "No, that machine would have taken a lot more than my arm. If it worked."
She opened the door, ushering them in. The room was far from plain. A long window took up a whole wall though whatever was on the other side was shrouded in black. She waltzed right in, dusting off the control boards and wires. Lights came on, computers jumped to life. Some of her guard seemed to make themselves busy too.
"You know such rare inventions don't come cheep. Its strange that you should ask for this. Not many believe it is possible. Even I... had given up... you see there not enough energy for something like this. I can't turn it on. I know it would work. I have every calculation perfect." A few screens popped up on the window. Numbers rolled by, equations, diagrams, formulas. "At least from what I can tell." She chuckled again.
"Whoa, your making me dizzy." Xanthus said squinting up at all the numbers.

"I know it's possible...I'm seen vaccum space, I've created it.....I understand its mechanics, I just need someone who has a means of harnessing it....."He says looking over her. "Here take a look..."
Holding both his hands out in front of him, between them there was nothing, then there was swhirling air, and then particles of 'light' began to join together, they burned and spiraled in a solid orb. They all could feel the air begin charging, the screens ripple ocasionaly where invisable streams of particles pass through them. All at ounce the charge fades, end the presure that none of them had notices till it faded. All that was left was a white light in hand hovering there, it was bright but it cast not light, the room around them only lit by the light of the screens and such.
"A distortion in space that spews out energy just as fast ans it takes energy in, creating a equalibirum that is one hundred percent self sustaining....until it's misshandled."
The Small bubble of vaccum space made no noise, cast no light, no heat, no chill, and no mass whatso ever it simply wasn't there.
"I can generate it, but can you harness it?"He asks looking over the distortion.

"Y-yes." She said quietly. At some unseen signal one of her guards stepped to her side. "... take him down to the converter..."
Val went rigid upon hearing this. Everyone else seemed to distracted to notice the strange orders.
Mother was transfixed by the 'light' in his hand. Her face had turned pale, she wrung her hands together either nervous or excited, most likely a mix of the two. Everyone was staring, some amazed, others confused and still more were shocked. Val watched too, a different sort of anticipation on her face.
"Hurry! Go!" She suddenly shouted.
"Yes, ma'am." The guard said, jumping a little.
"Be careful. We don't want you hurt." Val said, her expression hard. A contradiction to her words. Her cronies exchanged a surprised look behind her back.
The guard showed him to the door, together they descended for what felt like forever. The woman with him spoke not a word, but was edged somewhat closed to him, watching with extra care. They exited finally. Through one door and then another. The last led into a pitch black room, as soon as they set foot inside the exit lit up. The light hardy extended three feet in front of him. The guard backed up, leaving him there.
"Are you ready?" Mother's voice echoed all around him. The lights came on, blinding at first. The room was like a giant cylinder, all painted a sterile white. All except for the mass in the center of the room.
--
Up above the rest looked through the window. All they could really see was white and somewhere far bellow Val's keen eyes could spot two dots of color. A few more screens showed up. All of them displayed several angles of the chamber. In one King could be seen clearly, standing behind the machine. Another seemed to be a close up of directly above it and the others had it pictured from all sides.
"On your left, you'll see what look like slits in the side of the machine. That's where energy is input. All you have to do is power it, and you can see for yourself if it works." She said, leaning into the microphone on one of the boards. "Let me see, my creation come to life... then you can have it. You can do whatever you please with it. Just let me see it live." She said. Her eyes were alight with the startling fervor that shook her voice.

King grinned. "Gladly..."He said slidding his hands into the slots.
It took a while for anything to happen, that much power doesn't acumulate in sucha tight cluster every day you know.
"Give..it a...minute..."He strains fealing static energy building then snapping between his hands causing the reaction to start the proccess over again, and it does but much larger than before. As energy flows in it jets back out buts it quickly pulled back in by its very own vaccum, and the the vaccum created by incomeing energy.
"Hows this?...."He asks as it grows in size, and waves of radiant energy ravanged the inside of the machine. As a produce of this Kings mass increases to the point where his feet had created two craters of a increasing depth, he could hears the panels and such in the walls vibrating from the massive fluxuations in gravity, one of the cameras simply stops beings, all forty seven peices fly acrost the room. When the feild of gravity and energy reaches its equalibrium, the walls where left jutting out and folding in like jagged rocks and shards of glass.
