Teotihuacan was revered as “the birthplace of the Gods” by the Aztec centuries after the city was abandoned. The real name of the city was lost along with its people. When the city was at its peak, around 450 CE, it was a center of art, intellect and most importantly religion. The city, like most places of power and wealth, became corrupt. The power struggles between the elite and poor, drought, famine and disease tore the city apart. Blood flowed down the Avenue of the Dead, fire razed the temples and the Gods were enraged. All the innocent blood spilled by fickle humans had deprived them of their proper sacrifice. The Gods sent white fire of the sky down upon Teotihuacan, threatening to destroy everything. People of Teotihuacan, humbled at last, begged the Gods for their life and a return to the prosperity they had once enjoyed. The Gods demanded attention; they demanded that the blood lost be repaid to them. The Great Goddess placed a curse upon a chosen few that would turn them into bloodsucking demons. Chalchiuhtlicue, the water goddess took pity on the cursed and gave them immunity to the effects of time so their bodies would not grow weak or become sickly. Quetzalcoatl, the god of knowledge, bestowed a blessing upon the cursed; he gave them each abilities to aid them in their task.

The priestess let her feet flow over the earth as she tracked her slow moving prey. A deer had been sighted just a few yards from where she was standing, and she approached slowly holding her bow at the ready. She was alone, the rest of the hunting party she left behind a few miles ago.
Like lightning she drew an arrow and shot. The obsidian tip embedded itself in the flesh of the beast's right leg. It let out a low, frightened bleat. The priestess rushed toward it and the deer tried to stumble away. She tossed a rope around its neck and mouth, then plucked the arrow from its leg. It would make a fitting sacrifice for the temple dedication.
Her eyes scanned the trees, there was an odd feeling in the air.

Followed by nothing more than the soft sound of winds rustling through the trees and leaves, a figure skulked through the underbrush. He crept slowly from behind a tree, long blowgun held tightly to his chest to make as small a silohete as possible.
He manner of dress was simple, animal hide, a few decorative beads, feathers, animal bone but all made of animals not native to this land giving him a very alien apperance. There was one thing however they shared, they where both adept hunters, and where both after the same prey.
"O-s-da suh-hi-ye-yi." He spoke gruffly, with a stern a quiet tone. He made no blatently aggressive motion towards her, simply pulled himself from the tree and lowered the blowgun from his chest to his side. The decorative bands of coloring that snaked along the length of his weapon ended with two small tassles at the end, each with a small white ornatments. His figure was massive, shoulder that almost stretched the width of the tree trunk behind him, build almost verticle like the tree itself his long black hair had been pulled back slightly and his facial hair pulled forward and braided into a single knot with the same white ornament as his weapon had.
He raised his hands to show no harm and exposed two thick arms endsing in large hands, it only fitted that be be clothed in the pelt of a massive shaggy animal for he himself appeared to be just that.
"Da-qua-dov Anv Yonv...ga-do-de-tsa do?"He says then seemed to wait for a reply. His eye finaly seemed to surface through the hair and stature, his right a dark brooding brown, his left eye lashed down the center by a scar was wild and stormy grey color.

She was startled when he appeared, he had shown up so silently it caught her off guard. Her brown eyes were large as she watched his lips move around the strange words that were coming from his mouth. She backed up a bit, her head cocked to the side.
The deer let out a panicked bleat, and taking advantage of her distraction bucked away from the rope and ran off as fast as its could. She cursed out loud, but let it go. Slowly she let her bow and arrows fall to her sides. This animal man did not seem to pose a threat but now she was wishing that she had not left the rest of her hunting party behind. He obviously did not speak the same language as her. She placed her arrows back in their holder and left the bow across her shoulders. She reached toward him, gesturing for him to follow.
"Come." She motioned him toward her. "Come, follow me."
She began to move backwards through the trees.

The man followed her slowly, he seemed unsure about wether or not to trust her or not. After all he had simply been after the deer, and now that the animal had left it seemed he should as well though something in the back of his mind wouldn't let him leave just yet. Her laguage was new, her clothing was strange to him, this land inhabited by powers and people much different from his own, he thought himself a grave fool for following her so easily and yet could break his conviction away from his choice to do so.
His large feet made no sounds as he seemed to expertly glide through the grass, and underbrush not making a sound. There was only a breif momment where he made a sound as he stepped on exposed root causing it to creek, and even this sound was minute. He moved slowly and diliberatly behind her, jet kept his muscles taught as if he might flee at the slightest upset.

She smiled and nodded, trying to get him to relax.
The trees began to thin out, but they still had a ways to go. Her dress was less ornate than usual, since all her heavy garments would get in the way during a hunt. She was wearing gold around her neck but it was only a thin chain but the most attention grabbing piece of jewelry was the necklace made of brilliant green and yellow feathers. Her green earrings, nose ring, and hair pieces were smaller and lighter than usual. Her hair was braided up into a simple bun with green beads in it, a thin blue cloth was tied around her chest, and a short blue cloth was tied around her waist as a skirt. Her body was pleasantly curved, and soft looking, and her skin was dark tan from the sun.
"I think you are very far from home." She said out loud, knowing he probably did not understand. "But I will show you hospitality, do not feel anxious."

He studied her a little more the gold caught his attention first, there wasn't a lot of it back where he'd come from and they really had no use for it it wasn't hard enough to make a weapon from, so it was usualy left where it was found. He started to relax a little, his joints creeking slightly as he let his muscles relax. Through his hair there was a great amount of definition to his face, high cheek bones, a stoney jawline, in set eyes and broad forhead, and long face. He continued to follow her before slowing a little.
"Ha-do-o-'ga?"He asks, and a seemingly uncomortable voice.

She frowned and slowed down as well. The difficulty of communicating was presenting a problem for her. She didn't need a translator to get the gist of his question, he probably wanted to know where they were going. "City..." She said trying to draw the shape of the pyramids in the air. She wrinkled her nose in thought.
"Um..." She reached behind her into a pouch attached to her quiver, and pulled out a few pieces of dried meat. "Food." She said holding out to offer him some. "Water." She said making a drinking motion. "Sleep?" She said stretching her arms and letting out a fake yawn.

The symbol she drew in the air had a mixed meaning for him, it could either mean a 'temporary home', or a 'bright prospect'. With the proposition of a nice place to sleep tonight he figured 'why couldn't it be both?'. He began to follow her again but this time he makes a drinking motion "A-ma...." He seemed to stop and think of how she moved her mouth while speaking and tried to mimic it. "wa...ta...er" is all he came up with however. He'd been at least two days without water, every puddle or pond seemed to have something living in it, or some contaminant in it.

She reached behind her to pull out a small canteen. "Water. A-ma?" She asked, offering him some water. She grinned at his attempt to speak.
As the trees began to thin, the city came into view. The sight was grand, with the mountains in the distance the pyramids looked like colorfully painted hills, and the houses looked small and feeble. The whole place was packed with people but the priestess lead her guest along the edge of the city toward the largest and most impressive looking pyramid there was. "Welcome."

He drank happily from the canteen and marveled at the city but felt a odd sense of uneasiness about this place, his people lives in movable houses that made little impact on the land, and here these people build mountains of stone.
"do-i-s-di-hi-na?"He asks pointing to one of the pyramids, and handing her the canteen back. The simple prospect of moving that much earth seemed to perplex him, then the teachings of his people echoed in the back of his mind and he found it somewhat repulsing. Reaching a uneasy state of limbo between the two emotions he waited for her answer.

"The Pyramids." She said following his gaze outwards toward the towering man-made mountains.
"Thats where we're going." She said. The priestess grabbed him by the arm. "Come on." She pulled him onward, but when they reached the largest pyramid instead of walking up it, they found a winding staircase that lead them inside. It was pleasantly cool, and brightly painted and decorated with scenes of religious rites and ceremony, along with depictions of the Gods. The torches along the walls guided their way down the hallway and into a large room.

He moved slowly behind her, pulling him was like dragging a boulder through the mud with oil covered hands, bu eventualy he walked at her pace. He staired at the inside of the pyramid, examaning its walls carefully.
He'd keep his words to himself for now and observe diligently.

She pointed to a stone chair at the back of the room. "Sit." She smiled.
She gestured to the bowl of fruit laying on the table next to the chair, and then to a vase and a small bowl. From the vase she poured cool water, letting the liquid lap up against the edges of the bowl.
"Anacaona!"
The priestess's turned toward the doorway surprised at the sound of her name echoing down the halls.
"Priestess Anacaona." A man said, panting at the doorway. His eyes stayed focused on the ground as he bent his head. "You have returned early. I wasn't expecting.... who is this?" The man looked up seeing the strange man in the chair.
"This is my guest." She said.
"Oh..." The man bowed to the stranger as well. "Welcome."
"There have been so many strange things happening recently." Anacaona observed. "Will you please fetch me Quin, the scholar may be able to understand this travelers strange language."
The man nodded. "At your leave." He mumbled before leaving.

The man drank the water and ate the fruit timidly, it had more flavor than he was used to. He gave a small pause in his movments watching her. He slowly slid off his fur coat revealing a animal pelt vest beneath it, two pockets on the breast of the vest, his pants where of the same animal pelts, and he wore stange shoes made of animal hide, and they covered his foot completly three rows of lacings along their top side nearest his ankle. He opened his coat wide laying it over the back of the chair revealing multiple pockets and pouches inside his coat each holding something, he removes three small broad leaves from one such pouch and sticks them in his mouth chewing them while taking a small drink of water.
