Morning came faster than she thought it would. One moment she was talking and the next it was morning. Not that there were any windows to see they daylight with. It was kind of disorienting. The clock on the wall said 5:30 AM.
Akiva rolled over on her back. She had overslept a little, at least would have overslept if she still had work to do. She sat up and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. She didn't really know what to do. Akiva swung her feet over and pulled on her shoes. She decided to get up and see if anybody else was awake.
She slipped out of the door and down the hall back to the kitchen. She stood there for a moment surveying the empty room. "Hmmm..."
---
An intoxicating smell filled the complex. Bacon, cheese, and the cinnamon smell of fresh bread.

Hazen stroles into the kitchen.
"I haven't been present to such a diven smelling meal in years..."He says coming to set back in one of the chairs.
"What exactly are you cooking?"

She turned to him surprised and smiled. "I have eggs, bacon and rolls." She said pulling hot rolls out of the oven.
"Want some?" She smiled. She stood on her tip toes to reach the plates.

"Yes."Hazen says quietly walking up behind her and easily taking the plates in his hand and lowering them down to her.
"Need any help?"

She wrinkled her nose at him. "Thanks." She said. Akiva looked around the kitchen. "Well, you could help me find the salt and butter..."
She pushed the eggs around the pan with a spatula. "Do you like them runny or hard?" She asked.

Hazen found the salt, and eventual recovered the butter from its tomb. He sat them down beside Akiva.
"You know it's been so long I can't realy remember....hard I think."

She pushed his eggs onto the plate, along with some bacon and a roll with butter slapped onto it. She sprinkled salt and pepper on the eggs and handed them to Hazen.
"You look like you could use a good breakfast." She said grabbing a roll from the tray and taking a large bite.
The door was thrown open and a small group of people were trying to get in the door all at once. They ended up in a pile on the floor. They looked at Akiva and Hazen and stared at them confused.
"Er.... Hello?" Akiva said.
They climbed to their feet and nodded respectfully. There were four women and five men, all looking rather disheveled. They all mumbled their greetings in unison, until one young and sandy haired boy blurted out "We smelled food."
---
They were once again gathered around the table, except for this time a Izumi plus a dozen people sat with them. The twins, Alex and Rodric, while both with sandy hair and startling green eyes were very different personality wise. Alex was bold and intelligent, with the lithe fingers of a mechanic. His brother was soft-spoken and polite, a vayu with a gentle personality. Jasper was a warrior with an intimidating aura, he had a long white scar running from beneath his eye to his chin and she had not yet heard him speak. Silver, unlike what his name would suggest was dark skinned and dark haired, he was tall and broad shouldered with a elegant demeanor. Winnie and Rio were both witty and beautiful, but that's about where the similarities ended. Winnie, blond and pale skinned and Rio, tanned with wavy auburn hair, were both hot tempered. In the short hour and a half Akiva had known them they had already gotten into five different arguments about the most absurd things. A pair of siblings, Gala and Leo were similarly tawny haired and brown eyed. Leo was a pensive and slightly awkward young man. His older sister Gala was a terra and a weapon maker.
She looked around at these people and wondered how they had all found each other.
Izumi addressed the group, thankful that Jasper, Gala and Rodric had returned safely that night. There was joking, laughter, and an unspoken sense of relief that showed the depth of their camaraderie. Not for a moment were Hazen and Akiva treated like outsiders.
Gala explained how they had gotten lost. It turns out the Red Alchemist's did recruiting. They were searching for other rebel camps, trying to expand their group. Akiva realized it was an attempt to create an army of unified rebels. Separated they were nothing but together they stood a chance of actually overthrowing the emperor. Yet none of these groups trusted them. The rebels they had contacted that night had attacked them and chased them off, separating them from Izumi and Wolf. Yet the group had decided to go out again tonight, to find a different rebel camp closer to there own. They had only limited communications with them. They lived near the caves by the river, the caves had been worn into the steep crags by the ebb and flow of the river.
As they began to plan for that night Izumi turned to Akiva and Hazen and gave them a choice. "You can come with us. Or you can go back up to the surface and part ways. Whatever your decision we will not contest it. You are both welcome here, and you are both free to go whenever you like."

Hazen seemed to contemplate this for a momment.
"I am where I am supposed to be, by the side of those who have sufferent great lose and missfortune." He says his eyes drifting slightly to Akiva

Akiva nodded. For those people who she had lost, a family she would likely never see again, she decided to join them. "I want to come too." She said firmly her hand clenching into a fist.
Wolf smiled. "It's settled then! We leave at dusk." He clapped both of them on the back. "Welcome to the Red Alchemist Rebellion."
---
As the moon showed its pale face in the fading sky, the Red Alchemist's moved from their base. First went Izumi to make sure there was no one else in the vicinity to see them emerge from the camp, when she opened the door again the rest of them poured out of the narrow hallway one by one. Akiva rushed out of the opening and into the cool evening air.
"Aaaah! This is much better." She sighed, pleased to be back above ground in the open air.

"It does feel good to be back in the warm embrace of the sun."Hazen comments stretching."And to have enough room to stretch ones wings again."
His heavy affects straped to his back clanckes as he moved.

"All that stuff looks heavy though." She said nodding to his gear. "It can't be comfortable."
They began to walk, two by two with Izumi leading the way. The farther they went the more rocky things became. Until eventually Akiva realized that they were in a valley, as slowly the rock face began to tower over them. It got bigger and steeper on one side while becoming steeper on the other.

"Clothing at first was uncomfortable to man but time brings with it a worn since of home, I no more notice the weight of my tools than I notice the weight of my own skin."Hazen says patting the large sheath on his back.
"I think I might have traversed these mountains before, it's hard to say from this angle though..."Hazen muses aloud marveling at the rock walls size.

"So basically your used to it." She said looking at the sheath on his back. It was possible, but she couldn't imagine being comfortable with all that on.
Akiva looked up at the rock wall, and was awed at its sheer size. "I've never been this close before." She said. The gray, black and brown stone was piled one atop the other. The fading light played gently upon its surface making it seem larger than it was. On their other side the slope was still fairly gradual.

"Yes you could say I'm used to it."His gaze drifted over the rocks on last time before looking over the heads of his companions to the head of the troop.
"I wonder where exactly we're headed."He comments.

"I don't know... but it means more walking." She said. Akiva pushed out her bottom lip into a pout.
The twins in front of them turned and began to speak. "We're going towards the falls."
The quieter Rodric spoke up. "To make contact with another group, hopefully we can form an alliance with them."
His brother Alex quickly added. "They live in a small village, the Notable in charge of the province doesn't know they harbor fugitives."
